Avila University Off
to the Best Start in History

City, Mo. - The NAIA released the top 25 poll this week and the Eagles
are ranked 22nd in the country. It is the seventh time in nine years Avila has been ranked in the top
25.
With a 22-2 victory over Heart of America Conference (HAAC) opponent,
MidAmerica Nazarene University (KS), the Avila University baseball team is off
to their best start in school history. The Eagles, winners of their last three, are now 21-8 on the year and
first in the HAAC with a 10-4 record.
Avila is hitting .340 as a team with a .511 slugging percentage. Leading the way for the Eagles has been
senior Mario Ausiello (Santa Rosa, Calif.) who has drove in a team leading 39
runs, six homeruns, with an average of .373 for the year.
On the mound, Avila has gotten consistent pitching throughout the roster
with junior Rob Cline (Folsom, Calif.) leading the staff with five wins, while
junior Nate Adamson (Panaca, NV) and sophomore Nathan Bacon (Lee's Summit, MO)
each with four wins. Senior Taylor Monjo
(San Diego, Calif.), the Eagle closer, has seven saves, one win, and a 3.43
Earned Run Average.
The Eagles have also played tremendous defense this year with a .972
fielding percentage which ranks fifth in the NAIA.
Avila hosts MidAmerican Nazarene University today at 1 pm for the first
game of a double-header.
