The Lindenwood football team took time out of their busy spring schedule to help its community over the weekend. Thirty Lions volunteered their time on Saturday to work at a recycling event at The Family Arena in St. Charles, Mo.

The event was sponsored by the City of St. Charles and Web Innovations & Technology Services (WITS) and gave residents a chance to recycle larger items without having to pay a fee. Among the items collected were lawn equipment, televisions, appliances, and computers.

Lindenwood football players were on hand to assist the people dropping off items, especially in carrying larger items. The players worked in shifts from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The event was just one of many events done by Lindenwood student-athletes this year as part of its Champions of Character program. The school has been honored as a Champions of Character institution for each of the last 10 years by the NAIA.
