The Pioneers, who won the Heart of America Athletic Conference regular season and tournament championships, climbed three spots to #19 in the final rankings. MNU made its first national tournament appearance since 2009 and finished the season with a record of 25-9.

Evangel advanced to the second round of the Buffalo Funds-NAIA Division I Men's Basketball National Championship for the second-straight season and jumped to #22 in the last poll. The Crusaders finished the season with a record of 24-10.

The third HAAC team in the national tournament, Baker was included among those also receiving votes. The Wildcats were a runner-up finisher in the HAAC Tournament before falling to Our Lady of the Lake (Tex.) to finish the season with a 21-12 record.
