KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Central Methodist junior Courtney Dennis and Lenzie Boring of Evangel were named the Heart of America Athletic Conference Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, on Monday morning.

Dennis earned the second Player of the Week award of the season for the Eagles after Bri Ford claimed the award four weeks ago. A native of Sierra Vista, Ariz., Dennis batted .429 (3-for-7) last week with two of those hits leaving the field for home runs. She helped the Eagles battle back from a 6-0 deficit in the first game of their playoff series with Benedictine by smashing a two-run homer, then connected for another two-run shot in the series clincher.

Boring won the Pitcher of the Week award for the second-straight week and third time this season as she led the Crusaders into the championship round of the HAAC Tournament. A junior from Humboldt, Kan., Boring tossed the first no-hitter of her career as the Crusaders claimed a 8-0 win over Missouri Valley in the first game of the series against the Vikings. She struck out nine in the game and allowed just on base-runner on a 5th-inning walk.

Dennis and Boring will represent the conference in the running for the NAIA Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week awards, which will be released no later than Tuesday afternoon.
