KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Heart of America Athletic Conference regular season champion Avila and conference tournament champion Peru State are making their final preparations for the Opening Round of the NAIA Baseball Championships with play set to start on Thursday, May 10. Opening Round Schedules

Both teams received a #4 seed in their respective five-team brackets as they look to win their double-elimination tournaments and claim one of 10 places in the 2012 Avista-NAIA World Series, scheduled for May 25-June 1 at Harris Field on the campus of Lewis-Clark State in Lewiston, Ida.

Avila (39-14) traveled to Cleveland, Tenn., playing its Opening Round games at Olympic Field on the campus of #1-seeded Lee University. The Eagles will open the tournament against #5-seeded Bacone (Okla.) on Thursday, May 10 at 12:00 p.m. Bacone (28-23) is making its first Opening Round appearance after finishing as the runner-up of the Red River Athletic Conference Tournament. The winner of that game will face Lee later Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. The losing team will drop into the loser's bracket to face the loser of the #2 Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.)-#3 Missouri Baptist game on Friday at noon.

Peru State (35-16) faces a similar route if it hopes to capture the five-team tournament staged at Brooks Stadium-Doc Hideg Field in Paducah, Ky. The Bobcats will open tournament play against 5th-seeded Grand View (Iowa) on Thursday in the tournament opener at 10 a.m. Grand View (27-27) was the Midwest Collegiate Conference Tournament champion and is making its second Opening Round appearance. The winner will face top-seeded LSU-Shreveport at 6:30 p.m., while the losing team will face an elimination game on Friday morning against the loser of #2 Lindsey Wilson and #3 Bellevue (Neb.).
