KANSAS CITY, Mo. - All four Heart of America Athletic Conference football teams that were ranked in the Spring coaches' poll were pegged in the top 20 of the 2012 NAIA Football Coaches' Top 25 Poll, released on Monday afternoon.
Defending conference co-champions MidAmerica Nazarene and Missouri Valley remained in the top 10, maintaining their Spring places of #5 and #9, respectively. The Pioneers have the third-longest active streak of appearing in the poll with 67 while the Vikings have been in the top 10 for 12-straight rankings.
Benedictine, which was the third of three HAAC teams to qualify for the NAIA Football Championship Series last season, slipped two spots from the offseason poll to check in at #13, but sits just five points outside the top 10. The Ravens were joined in the second set of 10 by Baker, which gained one spot in the most recent poll to sit at #18.
Defending national champion Saint Xavier (Ill.) claimed all 11 first place votes after claiming a 24-20 win over Carroll (Mont.) in last season's national championship game. The 2012 title game is scheduled for Saturday, December 15 at Barron Stadium in Rome, Ga. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. (EDT)
