KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The two teams to represent the Heart of America Athletic Conference on the national stage last season maintained their place in the first regular season NAIA Women's Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll on Tuesday afternoon.
Defending conference champion Baker slipped three spots, but remained in the top 10 as the Wildcats were ranked #9 this week. Baker bounced back from an overtime loss at #6 Oklahoma City to post a 5-1 win over Texas-Brownsville. The Wildcats will visit Park (Mo.) next Wednesday in Parkville at 5:00 p.m.
National tournament participant Graceland also maintained its place in the top 25 this week, climbing one spot to #16 in the polls. The Yellowjackets, who are 4-0 and averaging almost three goals per game, are on the road this Sunday to take on Missouri Western with kickoff scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
A pair of early-season wins over ranked teams has given Missouri Valley a number of votes to appear on the list of teams also receiving votes. The Vikings, who opened the season with a 1-0 win over #10-ranked Westmont (Calif.), knocked off Texas-Brownsville earlier on Tuesday and will be back in action next Wednesday, September 12 at Columbia (Mo.).
