The Central Methodist University Athletic Department and Head Baseball Coach Fred Smith announced that Bob Allen and Todd Barry have been hired to fill coaching vacancies.

Bob Allen enters his first year on the Eagles coaching staff. Allen will serve as the Pitching Coach for the Eagles as well as a Resident Hall Director for the Office of Student Development.

Allen comes to Central Methodist from St. Louis, MO, where he had been an independent instructor at The Batting Cage. He has also served as the Head Coach and General Manager of the St. Louis Knights since 2006. He led the team to a 21-10 record and a second-place finish in the USSSA State Tournament. Allen served a short stint at fellow HAAC rival, Lindenwood University. While with the Lions, Allen served as the Pitching Coach and managed all aspects of the pitching program as the Graduate Assistant. From 2002 to 2003, he was the Assistant Coach for the Joseph L. Frank Legion Post 777 in Crestwood, MO. Allen holds a Bachelor of Science degree in English from Missouri Baptist College and is working on his Master of Arts degree in Sports Management. He played collegiate baseball at Washington University for three seasons. Allen and his wife Mandy reside in Fayette.

Todd Barry will begin his first year on the Eagles coach staff after finishing his collegiate career at Harris Stowe State College in St. Louis, MO. Barry will serve at the Graduate Assistant Coach for the CMU Baseball squad.


Barry was a four-year member of the Hornets Baseball program. As a pitcher, he was an
AMC All-Conference Honorable Mention selection in 2004. Barry has also served as the pitching coach for St. Mary’s High School in St. Louis, MO.

“I feel that we have a great staff,” said Coach Smith. “Bob has an excellent knowledge on pitching mechanics and Todd is very dedicated and will bring a strong work ethic to the staff.”
