Nov. 30, 2007- The best season in school history, and one of the best in HAAC history, came to an end for the Lindenwood women's volleyball team on Friday evening, as the sixth-seeded Lady Lions lost 3-0 to third-seed Concordia (Calif.) in the NAIA Championship Quarterfinals. The Eagles won the match by scores of 30-17, 30-17, 30-18.
Lindenwood played even with the Eagles at times, but gave up too many large runs in the contest. Concordia had eight runs of four or more points in the three-game match. The Eagles hit .320 during the match, while Lindenwood had just a .113 hitting percentage.
In game one, the two teams spent the first third of the match feeling each other. After a 9-9 tie, Concordia took over by outscoring Lindenwood 21-8 for the rest of the game.
The Eagles kept that hot streak going in game two as it jumped out to an 11-2 advantage. The Lady Lions cut that deficit down to six at one point, but Concordia quickly scored seven straight points to end that threat.
In the final game, Lindenwood didn’t go down without a fight with its best offensive game. The Lady Lions were down just two halfway though at 17-15. Concordia scored six straight at that point to break the game open and finished the game on a 13-3 run.
