Marshall, Mo. (January 27, 2010)-Missouri Valley College football players Moa Palepale (SR, DB, Everett, Wash.), Henry Hamilton (JR, OL, Opa-Locka, Fla.), and Colin Smith (SR, LB, St. Louis, Mo.) visited the kindergarten and first grade classrooms at Benton Elementary School in Marshall, Mo., today to partner as reading coaches keeping Benton Superbowl teams motivated to read during the Reading Superbowl competition.
"The players read books to the classes and talked about the importance of learning to read," Benton Elementary principal, Paige Clouse said. " They truly were inspirational to our children!"
This event was part of Missouri Valley's commitment to the NAIA's Champions of Character program that embraces the five core values of respect, responsibility, integrity, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.
"I enjoyed working with the kids," Palepale said. "I think I learned as much from them as they did from me!"
