Dex® to be presenting sponsor for event from March
4-6
KANSAS
CITY,
Mo.
-- The National Association of
Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) is proud to announce that Dex® is the
presenting sponsor for the 2010 NAIA Indoor Track & Field National
Championships - powered by Dex®. The current agreement will last for one year.
The event runs from March 4-6 from Johnson City,
Tenn., at the ETSU Memorial Center "Mini-Dome." Johnson City has hosted
this event since 2001.
"Going into the 10th year
as host, Johnson
City continues to be one of the NAIA's premier
championship host cities," Ruth
Stein, NAIA Manager of Championship Sports said. "This is due
in large part to the city's ability to attract support from quality corporate
partners like Dex®, this year's anchor to the local organizing committee's own
‘national championship team.' The NAIA is very grateful to Dex® for providing
vital resources necessary to make this a first-class, championship experience
for athletes, coaches and fans alike."
Dex® is part of the Dex One
Corporation. It is a leading marketing services company that helps local
businesses reach, win and keep ready-to-buy customers. One of their products is
the print directories, which include the Embarq® Yellow
Pages.
"We love supporting our community,"
Vickie Bryant, sales support manager for Dex® said. "Last year, we were a
year-long sponsor for the Johnson City Convention & Visitors Bureau's (CVB)
sports department and our employees volunteered their time. Through that
experience, we saw the value of being involved with the NAIA Indoor Track &
Field National Championships. It is an amazing event and we are pleased to have
this opportunity to be a partner again with the CVB and the NAIA at this
championship."
In 2009, Johnson City was nominated
for a national award given by SportsTravel Magazine, for
excellence in sporting events. Each year, this championship welcomes more than
1,000 student-athletes from over 100 schools across the U.S. and Canada competing in 42 different
events.
"We have enjoyed our 10-year
relationship with the NAIA and our new partnership with Dex®," Karen Hubbs,
Director of Sports Development of Johnson City Convention & Visitors Bureau
said. "Both of these organizations are highly respected and we are honored to be
a part of their teams."
Last year, Azusa Pacific (Calif.) won the men's
team title for the third straight year and its sixth in the last eight seasons.
On the women's side, Wayland Baptist (Texas) took home its second straight team
championship.
