The Avila University Baseball team is off to the hottest start in the programs history.  They got off to a 7-0 start with wins over four different teams.  The best start  previous to this is a 6-0  record in 1996.  The team is looking forward to the rest of the season.

The Avila University Baseball program has been in existence for twenty one years.  In those twenty one years they have never got off to a 7-0 start.  That start included wins over Graceland and Bacone on opening weekend.  The team then traveled to Fayetteville, Arkansas to take on the heavy hitting William Woods Owls and took two from them in a double header.  Coach Ryan Howard of the Eagles had this to say about his record start to the season, "Its good for the morale and the chemistry to get off to a start like this, but these games are an evaluation period.  They don't really count in the grand scheme of things except for the development of chemistry and skills, the players understand we are not here to just win games we are here to win championships."  The team will open up conference play Saturday March 6th on the road against the  Missouri Valley Vikings at 1:00 PM.
