Mackenzie Lown has signed a Letter of Intent to compete as part of the William Jewell College women's tennis program in the fall of 2010.

A native of Lawrence, Kan., Lown attends Lawrence Free State High School where she has been a member of the varsity tennis team for three years.  She played number-two singles as a sophomore and has played number-one singles for the past two seasons. Lown went undefeated in singles play as a sophomore and this past fall Lown was a Kansas 6A state qualifier.

"I am excited about Mackenzie's desire to learn and grow as a player," said head coach Paul Worstell. "I believe she comes with great ability and the potential to grow into a fantastic player for us at Jewell. I really see Mackenzie fitting into our team philosophy and helping us establish a solid foundation as we transition to NCAA Division II."

Off the court, Lown has been involved in several school activities such as editor of her school's yearbook, dance team, choir, and student council.  She has also volunteered for the Special Olympics every year with her school dance team.
