FAYETTE, Mo. - The
men's distance medley relay team from Central Methodist University finished
second in its semifinal heat to be one of eight teams advancing to the finals at
the 2010 NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships - powered by Dex
in Johnson City, Tenn.
The Central Methodist men's DMR team of junior Mike Hernandez
(Balmorhea, Texas), sophomore Josh Whitener (Imperial, Mo.), sophomore Lucas
Manring (Stockton, Mo.) and freshman Edwin Kurgat (Eldoret, Kenya) finished
second in its semifinal heat with a time of 10 minutes, 16.34 seconds Thursday
night on the first day of competition at the championships. Wayland Baptist
posted the fastest time of the semifinal round by winning CMU's heat with a time
of 10:06.10. By finishing second in its heat, the CMU relay will be one of the
eight teams competing for All-American honors in the finals, which are scheduled
for 3:50 p.m. Saturday.
